The vet gave me a liquid painkiller and an antibiotic
The anesthetic the got was Isoflorane
The vet did not mention a probiotic but our family takes them and I could give some to panda. But whats the dose??
I've always got my eyes on Pandas teeth. I never want them to overgrow. Panda does have these chew sicks that keep this teeth short. Its pretty funny because I can open pandas mouth and look at & touch his teeth. Just to make sure everything in his mouth is okay. I taught him this when he was a baby.
Here's a question I forgot to post. Why is Panda eating his bedding? I dont get it. Panda has never eaten his bedding before. And since the surgery he's always been chewing on it.

I replied to your Question via pm. Isoflurane is our vets favoured anesthesia too. They are up quite quickly, if a bit dozy. This is important for guinea pigs as respiratory problems can set in quite rapidly if their lungs are not encouraged to work. Oxbow critical care contains good bacteria, you can order it by Internet. - I will try and look up a link for you. Do you manage to check his molars at the back ? this is sometimes quite difficult without buccal pad separators. Eating his bedding may be an attempt to find healthy droppings to re-populate his gut with good bacteria. Guinea pigs with intestinal imbalences will look for other pigs droppings with which they can ingest to adjust the balence of their hind gut flora. If he is on his own this isn't possible but he may go through the motions anyway. Another thing to consider is he may be in pain. Here guinea pigs do not eat their bedding, just bite it and grind their teeth on it. they may then either push the bedding out of their mouth, or leave it where it is. But this is unlikely if you have a painkiller for him.

Well Panda lives alone. But he does eat his own droppings when he's not in his cage, but on top of a towel in the living room. I always wondered why he did this. Thanks for letting me know
I never really paied attention to his molars. I'll have to look at them when he feels better
I just got back from the pet store. I got panda some timothy hay and Gery guinea pig. I also picked up some oranges while I was out and some vitamin C yogurt health drops
I didnt give him any pain medicine today. And his surgery was on Thursday. Should I continue to give it to him?

It maybe an idea to keep hi on the pain killer for now. But ask your vet if you are unsure. What is the painkiller ? We normally use Metacam.

Okay, well today Panda is going to the vet to get his staples removed
PS Panda had diarrhea yesterday. Do you think its because he is eating too much timothy hay? Lately the only thing he will eat is fruit, veggies and timothy. He wont touch his Gerty Guinea pig
