If where you live is anything like here you have lots of cats running wild in the area. So arent wild but they dont seem to last long. I have been watching a pair of felines that I have taken to thinking of as Lizzy and Tim. You can pretty much tell thier gender from the names.
Its taken me a while to get close to this pair but after a few weeks of treats they seem to feel I am mostly harmless. They used to take off when they saw me but these days they back off , sit and watch me. Fair enough I dont mind being studied and turnabout is fair play.
Lilly is a tabby mix of all colours but mostly broun and gray. Age is hard to guess but for this study Im willing to guess that she is about 9 months.
Tim is a large orange tiger cat and is quite a bit large then Lilly.
It took quite a while to relealize that they do in fact have a social structure. Lilly will infact defer to Tim in most matter and will even complain at him... if quitely. At one point the young couple was standing and just watching my offering. Lilly was a bit nervous and no doubt a bit hungry and wanted to feast. She hissed at Tim and clawed his flank a bit. This diddnt bother him at all and a second later Lilly rubbed against him. After a while Tim did come to the prize. He started to eat and lilly remained back until he had broken off the part of the chicken he wanted and only then came to get some. Lilly never saw me but Tim did and they took off. I suspect they came back later. All I did was move my arm and Tim looked me right in the eye just before they took off.
Maybe I need to find something better to do with my time.. but this was interesting.
