Help - I think that one fo my boys might (but im not sure) have eaten a bit of plastic! in their kitchen pen one of them had dragged a bit of a bin liner through the pen side and I found it chewed a bit, I didnt see them do it so not sure who it was, they are both eating ok so far - is there anything I should do? do you think I should ring the vet or take them? or should I let nature take its course?thanks for any advice

If they appear fine just watch them carefully over the nect 24 hrs. If there is going to be a problem it should show up quite quickly. (food actually moves quite quickly through alimentry canal) Watch for drooling, pawing at the mouth, heaving cough type of behavior, hunched up position, going off food and water, no poops, listlessness.
If you are concerned about anything contact your vet - they don't charge for advise over the phone.

Thanx for that, I did ring the vet coz I was sooo worried and he said the same. Ive been watching them and there is no strange behaviour and its been a couple of hrs so hopefully all is ok. Ive learnt my lesson about leaving things close to the pen - it was a couple of inches away the little tinkers - phew!

They are little devils at pulling stuff through the bars of pens. We've had books, towels, paper, cats tails ...... pulled into pens

we had this problem many years ago and like you we were so worried, one of ours somehow pulled a plastic carrier into his cage and had a great time eating it, we have never been so scared but all was well and it was passed in tiny little pieces in his poop about 2 days later, now we always make sure that the nearest thing to their cages is 18 inches away just for our peace of mind yes and their definately little devels
