Is there a breed standard for coronets? as far as I can gather they are peruvians with a crest? do they still have the two rump rosettes?

The coronet is more like a sheltie with a crest, in fact in the late 70's - 80's they were known as crested shelties.
With the sheltie the coat is straight and swept away from the face. The texel is the rexed version of the sheltie
same with the coronet but there is a crest from which the coat has to be groomed away from the face. The Marino is the rexed breed here
A peruvian is a straight haired long haired cavy with rosettes. They have to have only 2 on the rump. This causes all the coat, but the sweep, to grow forward. This gives the peruvian its centre parting and the frontal over their face. The Alpaca is a rexed version of the peruvain.

pm sent Jamie - yep I have the internet at home now I got a laptop - its fab, Im always looking at guinea pigs!! I have emailed Nicky to tell her I dont want to take the coronet sow but have passed the details on to you, I think you will need to be quick though as they are gorgeous and will be snapped up! She will want a deposit to keep for you and she will be ready in about 3/4 weeks, I think she wants £16 for her. The coronet sow is golden agouti and white. I forgot to say that the mam is Blossom and the dad is Buddy - have a look on the website - good luck

p.s. the mam and dad of the baby coronet sow are both peruvians. Sue can you tell me if this means the line is not pure peruvian? will they be coronet carriers or something? I always thought a peru x peru breed true peru?

Yes the rosetted coat is is dominant, so the non rosette coat has been carried thro' both parents. The Crest, or star gene is a dominant characteristic this will come from one or maybe both peruvian parents. But you may not see this as it is probably inconspicuous on the peruvian coat.
