The GPW forum data base has become corrupt, and Alex can not access the back up from 12/12/08, the day before it want down. Alex has a few things to try out yet.

I miss everyone too. Very tempted to create a forum 'Guinea Pigs Would - The Next Genertion (TNG)' Maybe this could be incorperated into GPW later when its been fixed ? I'll try and ask Alex about it, but he's not about much.

Hi everyone I been missing GPW too and hope everything is sorted out as soon as Alex has finished his course. In December Julie and I lost two piggies Coco and Rio. Coco wasn't very well looked after and was badly fed without any vitamin C in her early life and she got a uterine prolapse and there was no sign of illness with Rio, who was found dead in the cage a week after Coco. A fortnight ago my Rex sow Marble had a stroke and died on the 17th February. She was three years old and I had been grieving for about a fotnight and Julie was upset as well and last Thursday I couldn't face classes because of a very bad headache brought on by the recent upset and grief losing Marble had caused. I miss her so much and it felt like part of me had died with her as we had lost 6 piggies since 2007. I took a painkiller and on Wednesday of last week we saw a guinea pig breeder from Abertillery in town and he was sad to hear about marble and Rio and was horrified with coco's story and he said "If you want any more pigs, come to me" so we went up to see him and his partner and came home with 3 new ones, two we are buying and one a gift. Tapestry is a Black, cream + white Swiss sow aged 2 and a half and recently retired from breeding. She had had 2 litters last year. Tapestry's daughter we have is a Silver Agouti and White Swiss sow who is 3 months old. Her sire is a Pink Eyed White Swiss boar and we have called her Tinkerbelle. She's gorgeous.
The other baby we have is a White roan/Slate Blue Carrier Merino sow called Bella. Her sire is a Slate Blue and white Coronet boar and her dam is a White roan Merino Sow. She is three months old. It is like starting all over again.
Will post pics on Photo Gallery so you can all take a look.

Thanks Annabel your words of comfort mean a lot to us. I had Tapestry out earlier on and had her on my lap. She is still a bit skittish but she is now coming and Julie has Bella out now. It has been a fortnight sinse I lost my beloved Marble. I could do anything with her from rubbing noses and she would cuddle up to me and lick me on the cheeks. It was wonderful how she bonded with me and when it came to veggie time she would come to the side of the cage. I hope I can get these three new ones to do that.

I'm sure they will Diane we've never had one that doesn't respond to love and veggies our last two rescues Chocolate and kit kat about three years old were very shy and wasn't handled Chocolate would turn her face to the wall when we went into the piggiy room cos as long as she couldn't see us we weren't there yet within a couple of weeks she was first to the cage door its amazing what a few red grapes will do they are so quiet and lovable now your new piggies won't be the same as your gorgeous Marble but they will love you and respond to your love

I can't believe it is a fortnight ago she died Annabel. I can now pick Bella up straight away and Tinkerbelle isn't far behind.

We are totally stumped about the database problem, it can't be accessed at all. We are looking into alternatives - even having to start from scratch.

ooooh!!! i just went onto the GPW forums and it had semi-returned!!! Up until now all i have got is a white screen saying something about an error....but i just checked it...and the old green page returned with some of the old posts!!! Has there been a break through? Or has everyone else always been seeing parts of the old forum still there? I tried to post a message but it wouldnt let me...but it was so nice to see a little reminder of what it used to look like!!
